The attention to detail in service of the local staff and accommodations were all great. The itinerary was balanced in that it allowed us to learn about Kenyan culture from all aspects in the city, wilderness, and coastal Beach settings. A large group like ours could have been difficult to handle for some, but Dave, our Motherland leader handled the group with poise, cool, calm, and collected. Dave wanted to make sure we experienced everything Nairobi and the country of Kenya had to offer, and even made some last minute suggestions about local sites to visit as time allowed. One of my favorite parts of the trip was the safari, as my SUV group had a fearless driver named Ronnie who did a great job driving into all areas to give our group the best views of the animals possible. I will highly recommend Motherland Adventures when you visit Kenya Africa.Naya2023-10-04This was my first time to Kenya and the experiences that Motherland Adventures curated were unforgettable. Over the course of 10 days, we managed to explore many of the major attractions in Kenya. Our first stop was in Nairobi where we visited The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (which is an orphanage for baby elephants & rhinos), The Giraffe Centre where we fed giraffes, and a marketplace of local vendors where we could purchase local goods. We then voyaged to Masai Mara to meet the Masai Mara tribe and embark on safari game drives where we could observe wildlife up close and personal. Our accommodations here I would categorize as glancing, even though we were in the thick of the wild, we had running hot water, electricity, bonfires and good meals. The staff who transported us in beautiful jeep cruisers were kind, knowledgeable, and did everything in their power to make sure we saw a wide array of animals on our game drives. Of the big 5 we were able to see 3 which is a huge success and that was all thanks to the great drivers (shout out to Joseph who drove the jeep I was assigned to) who navigated the national park in a way that made this experience adventurous and fun. Our interactions with the Masai Mara tribe was so informative and intimate it honestly bought tears to my eyes, they were so gracious to greet us in a warm way and allow us to enter their homes and meet their families. Next, we journeyed to Diani Beach and had a 5 star experience at the Swahili Beach Resort. This resort is breathtaking from the architecture, to the staff, to the food, etc. This was the relaxing part of the trip and was well worth the wait after so much adventure. Lastly, we returned to Nairobi to give back to the local children’s orphanage. This trip was the perfect balance of fun, adventurous, eye opening, relaxing, and it truly pulls at your heart strings. I could not be more happy with this travel experience, I’ve never experienced anything quite like it and I would book Motherland Adventures in every country they are available in in the future.
